Default 1968 427 435hp - find orig car?

Team, would like to know how do I find a car from the partial VIN.

I would hope if car exist, the owner might be interested in this engine.

427 435hp 1968 model year car.
IR coded. Aluminum GM Heads.
Numbers on pad. 18S might be a 78S
Engine Surface.

thx
Doug

The VIN is easy to rebuild from what you have:
It's either: 194378S404329 (if a coupe) or 194678S404329 (if a convertible). The only difference is the 4th character being a 3 or a 6.

Rare find!
They only made about 624 of those aluminum head L71s in 68.

I hope we can find the original car, or at least maybe what happened to it.

FYI:
A Iron headed 435HP L71 would have been coded IR 2898 produced
An aluminum headed L71/L89 one would have been coded IU 624 produced

At the very least someone has put aluminum heads on this one. Not all that uncommon, they are 90 # lighter
I cannot elaborate on the authenticity of the pad stamp or not, I am not much of an expert on those.

IIWY I would document the casting number and block date code with pics as well. They are on the top of the bellhousing flange..
Even if not exactly correct, someone may be interested in it if the dates are relatively close to theirs.

4039th corvette made that year, out of 28,566

TI024 should also be T1024, meaning engine built on Oct 14th
Another I and 1 swapped.

A sound teaser.
A real L71 / L89 heading off to a car show.
Turn up your bass.
