Thank you,

you do not need a new airbag...lemon amonia and a thin scotch bright heavy duty scour pad and 15 mins of rubbing will make it like new...protect the leather wheel and other stuff...I used that blue wide painters masking tape,
Turn the pad often with more lemon amonia because it will get full of the sticky yuck, wear gloves and eye protectors, the cover will come out with a mat finish, you can put a protector on the finished bag to shine it up or leave it with a matt finish, i did mine and it looks new...takes a lot of gentle rubbing, you can also use a hand cloth but the pads work faster...dont get discouraged ...its a miracle...

Sure you can but the method described in post 2 above will get the cover looking great and not involve the cost of a new cover. But ultimately your choice on how you proceed.
I think GM discontinued making them but you can go to a dealer, they have a locater, and see if any dealership in the country may have one...but it wont be from 2026 material...I have found many parts that I have been told that dont exist...there are hundreds of dealerships across the country that have "obsolete " parts, its amazing...
is your airbag housing cracked up or just sticky?
You believe incorrectly. This is a very common problem, and many of us have dealt with it.
And isn't the "cover" an integral part of the airbag? I believe it is the envelope for the airbag packed inside.
The ammonia and Scotch Brite pad or microfiber towel scrubbing procedure works very well and takes very little time. I completely cleaned mine in about 20 minutes.
Yes. Mine all of a sudden got sticky. I researched it and most said to use the lemon ammonia but I wasn't keen on smelling the fumes. One guy said to use Isopropyl rubbing alcohol. I didn't have the ammonia but I had the alcohol. Worked like a charm. Apparently there is a coating on the plastic that breaks down. Most said that happens if the car sits outside in the hot sun but mine has always been garaged? Anyway, yes, it will take a few towels. At first I tried GooGone. Don't bother. Did not work for me. I recommend the alcohol.
