Default GMPP extended warranty

i have 2021 htc with 5500 miles and in the market for an extended warranty. i went on the gm website, plugged my vin in, and got a price of $4500 for a 5 year/50,000 mile platinum plan with a $500 deductible.

no inspection required (not positive on that but i did not see any language with vehicle inspection), and i can just put my credit card in and buy it right now.

my main concern is if you read the fine print, it says “The Administrator (of said plan) is Safe-Guard Products International, LLC, Two Concourse Parkway, Suite 500, Atlanta, GA 30328”.

what does this mean? is it a genuine gm product/warranty?

thank you for responses…

It it a GM plan...as much as it ever will be. GM is the "Obligor" so they are financially responsible for payments to the repair facility. They use a 3rd party to manage the claims and process, so it is a 3rd party that is approving (or not), but any issues you have is with GM (actually GM Protection, LLC, which is a subsidiary of GM Finanical, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of GM).

So, the GMPP is a product that can be sold by any dealer.

SHOP AROUND.

That same warranty can be had through another dealer for around $2k.

I purchased 84/84, $250 for my Z06 for ~$3k

OP got a full MSRP list price quoted. There is no need ever to pay full price, Theses plans also have an invoice price and that will be many hundreds $$$ below MSRP leaving lots of room to negotiate lower prices with those GM dealers willing to negotiate.

My CPPC Plan for zero deduct, 72 month, 72,000 miles on a 2023 car with about 35,000 miles was about $4,600. Bought about 1.5 years ago.

Since you are past your BTB (past 36 months), contact Dennis. He will beat that price (probably significantly).

Dennis Fichtner - Laurel
dfichtner@laurelchevy.com

Normally Todd beats Dennis' price, but Todd can't issue the plan on an expired B2B. For those still under the original B2B:

Todd Sutherland - MacMulkin
todds@thompsonauto.net
(603) 888-1121

Sounds really high to me, but your car is out of warranty coverage right now so the price is higher.
Also, if your car has only 5K, you probably don't need a 50K warranty plan.

They probably have lower mile plans for less money.
I just bought a 48 month 40K GM Platinum warranty for my 12K mile 2023 (still in 3/36 warranty)
for a fraction of that cost.
