Got a complete new choke housing assembly. Problem with choke sticking closed.
Removed assembly and find that at full closed position the piston connection link appears to pivot past center and stick. Photo #2.
A slight movement toward open and the piston falls of its own weight with no binding or sticking. Photo #1.
Is there any way to correct this short replacement?
One thing that occurs to me is that the bellcrank might be rotated 180* on the choke shaft. I assume the original parts look like the new. The other thing is that the intermediate choke rod serves to limit travel. I'm concerned that if the piston is that loose in the bore then it's going to have a hard time holding enough vacuum to serve as a choke pull-off.

does it still bind with the spring in place? With the cap and spring installed and the choke adjusted it shouldn't go all the way to the end.
The curved slot in the baffle plate serves as a limit but the intermediate rod is adjusted before the baffle plate, thermostatic coil, and cover go into place.
