Default 1963 steering question

I was looking at a photo of my car up on a lift and was curious about what I believe is the steering relay rod. I am looking at the end under the driver side where there seems to be an unused bracket on the end. Any ideas what this is? Thanks!

It’s for a steering damper, like a shock absorber that bolts to the frame and the relay rod.

These are 2 I’ve removed from non PS cars, made no noticeable difference, except maybe a little easier to steer at low speed, parking etc.
It wasn’t used on solid lifter equipped cars or big block cars, so you can leave it off or replace it, up to you.

Thanks, that’s what I thought although it looks like the Pitman Arm is disconnected. I’m not sure what normal looks like but this seemed odd to me.

You would have no steering if it wasn’t connected

The ball joint, that the pitman arm connects to is easily rebuildable and often the cause of steering play
