Default A-pillar seal - help needed

I’m trying to install a new A-pillar seal on my 1975 C3 Corvette and I’m getting a little confused on the proper installation. I’ve watched several videos, but none of them clearly show the top section of the seal installation.

When I removed the old seal, there was very little adhesive in the channel or on the rubber itself. The old seal actually didn’t look that bad, but it appeared to be installed improperly or misaligned.

What’s confusing me is the very top of the A-pillar seal. I saw one video where the guy used a lot of RTV and then appeared to run the screw at the top directly through the rubber into the metal plate. However, my old seal did not have the screw running through the rubber itself.

So my question is:
At the very top of the A-pillar weatherstrip, is the screw supposed to go through the rubber and into the metal plate, or does the rubber sit underneath it another way?

Also, are the 1975 seals/installations any different from a 1974 or 1976 C3? I’m having a hard time finding good information specifically for a 1975.

I apologize for rambling a bit. I’m just trying to make sure I install this correctly the first time.

frankly, I really need help with this. I’d appreciate it if anyone out there has experience doing this. Thank you ahead of time. Thanks for taking the time to read this..

Powe.

On my 78 there was a screw going thru the rubber seal and into the metal. There was no RTV but I usually put weatherstrip adhesive down, just to keep things from moving, not toseal out the water. The compressed rubber will do that itself. And just so you know, none of us do it right the first time. But there is always time to do it right the SECOND time!.
