I've recently moved from a house with a nice garage with a trickle charger to a condo with secured parking but no access to power. I am planning a long trip and am concerned about the battery discharging while I'm gone. When I leave, I am planning on locking the car with the hood open, disconnecting the battery, and closing the hood. After returning, I plan on using the key located in the fob to get access to the trunk and opening the door and hood and then reconnecting the battery. I will be gone for three weeks. Will this work? Thanks for any input.
I let mine sit over the winter for 6 months and just disconnect the negative terminal...................starts right up..............no power necessary

Even after 3 weeks the car should still start if you don't have a parasitic drain...my 08 draws around 15 milliamps so I'd be fine after 3 weeks...that will work for you but just make sure your key works if you want to disconnect the battery.
My Vette is fine for 3 weeks, I've done it many times. For longer periods I remove the negative battery cable. It's easier on a GS because the battery is in the back. Be sure to check that your key is opening the hatch. Probably should double check that the door release works too.
