Default Question re: C7 Stingray radiator fans

I've searched through quite a few threads & posts and can't find a specific answer, so I'm hoping somebody else has a potential response.

I've got a 2019 Stingray (base, no Z51 package, etc.). It's got the OEM stock 500 watt rad fan and I've had a mind to upgrade the thing a bit to increase the efficiency of the cooling system when I'm stuck in heavy traffic (hey, "stuff happens") on a very hot day, for example 95 F degrees which occurs fairly frequently even here in Ontario Canada. Yeah, I know that's not extreme compared to much of the summer heat in the U.S., but the humidex/heat index can mean it feels significantly warmer than that, being surrounded by 3 of the Great Lakes plus several hundred small lakes in my area. The high humidity really puts a strain on the A/C cooling output - I swear there's a half quart a minute of water dripping down from the A/C condenser discharge drain, and the conditioned air temperature output while stopped in traffic while not "warm" is noticeably not as cool as when moving

I'd really like to investigate putting the 600 watt rad fan from a Z06 to replace the lower draw 500 watt unit - they look much the same, but I'm wondering if (a) the mounting system matches up to the smaller output fan directly, and (b) if the extra electrical draw will give me problems and if the connector is a match from the 500 watt to the 600 watt.

Anybody with specific knowledge of this? Information appreciated before I order the fan, which is non-returnable.

Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea.

Here’s an interesting thread from the Corvette Forum on his very same subject:

Is it overheating? From one source:
The factory thermostat for a 2019 Corvette (C7) is designed to begin opening at 194°F to 195°F (90°C to 91°C). Once fully open, the normal operating temperature for the engine coolant typically ranges between 195°F and 220°F (91°C to 104°C) depending on driving conditions.

Mine runs right at 220 no matter what the temperature or humidity is. When it’s 95 degrees here in Florida with 100% humidity it runs at 220. Putting a larger fan in it won’t change anything unless it’s overheating, in which case the problem is most likely the thermostat. Putting a larger fan in won’t hurt anything except your bank account and it won’t help cooling as the conditions you describe aren’t extreme.

But more air over the air cond coils could make it more efficient.

Did this last fall, pretty straight forward. I did not have cooling issues but wanted to make sure down the road I would not hopefully.

Maybe. I’ve driven mine in the desert in 115 degree heat, AC worked fine and it didn’t overheat. The only time I had an overheating problem it was a bad thermostat. If spending $400+ and doing the work yourself gives peace of mind go for it.
