Default Exhaust donuts

Found out I had a loose exhaust manifold to pipe connection last fall and a cracked donut that was letting the exhaust pop. I retightened the connection and it apparently closed up the crack and took care of the popping. But upon starting the car yesterday it seemed to be popping momentarily in the exhaust and then went away - suspecting the crack is opening up cold but sealing up with some heat.

In another post I noticed these sintered metal donuts that another member posted.

I’m a little leery of if these can effectively seal to the manifold casting surfaces but possibly I need to give them a try. Has anyone used these and have any results they can share. It’s also strange I don’t see a size on this package. I would think there have to be at least a couple of sizes for manifolds with different outlet diameters?

I've got sintered metal ones on my car for last 10 years.

Dan,
According to the NAPA website, that FelPro gasket part number (60986) is an Exhaust Pipe Gasket, 2 17/32" I.D.; Manifold to Front Pipe; Optional Sintered Metal. They, of course, make one for a 2 1/32" exhaust (#60985).

I believe all 66 small blocks used the 2" donut.

The sintered donuts are really quite soft and will readily conform to the surfaces to make a good seal.
