I have had tires last 30+ years, but if you feel and imbalance or a pull in the steering, I strongly advise you to stop and inspect each tire as it has separated a cord and may be ready to blow. You can not see the cords from the outside of the tire. Tires are cheap / fiberglass and repairs are NOT CHEAP.
My experience with Michelin is that they will wear forever but the rubber compound will get hard and very slippery after a while. They will get virtually traction-less well before the thread gets close to wearing out.
I sold my wifes old Fiat, a 1971 124 Spider in perfect condition a few years ago. It still had the Michelin ZX tires from the 80's on it with no cracks and drove well. They looked new so I never replaced them. My wife drove that car maybe 100 miles per year but would not let me sell it till recently. They built tires much better in the old days. The new stuff is terrible. A law should be passed to make the tire makers go back to the old formula so we don't put so damn many tires in the waste yards. A critical part being allowed to self destruct in 6 years is criminal. Just a profit grab by the tire makers.

Dan, you are very correct. These Michelin tires are stiff and rubber is slippery. New tires should improve not only the safety but also the ride..
