After I recently recharged the battery of my 1984 C4, there is only a rapid clicking noise when turning the key, and "Check Engine" lights up.
Everything electrical works, the lights turn on, the dash is illuminated - could it be a bad starter or bad wiring? The battery still recharges very quickly and is just three years old.
I would before throwing money out the window, pull the battery and take to any parts store for them check it out, just because you charged 3 year old, it not have enough power?
NOTE: If you never pulled the battery, just loosen bolt on the bottom fender, DO NOT REMOVE IT, you be sorry.
I agree with the above. Have the battery properly tested before going any further with diagnosing the issue. You have to have proper snd sustainable source voltage to be able to start the engine and to do electrical diag.
If you did remove the battery to charge it, check to ensure your battery terminals are clean, rust free, and tight. Ensure they were not overtightened and potentially caused damage to the threads on the battery.
NOTE: If you never pulled the battery, just loosen bolt on the bottom fender, DO NOT REMOVE IT, you be sorry.
Unless of course you discover like I did on my '84 that a slot for the bolt to slide through was not there, I dremeled a nice slot afterward for the next time.
