Any good mechanic could give you an evaluation of the car. It's a GM car from the late 90's/early 2000's. I would care about things like the Harmonic balancer and what shape it is in. Service records and receipts to show it was cared for and maintained. I always say, look at the under side of a car to tell you the real life story. Check the rockers and make sure they aren't beat to hell. Pull a plug and see how it looks. Pull the dip stick and smell the oil.
Given the way people mis-represent things today, I would run a VIN check with one of the online services (Car vertical, carfax etc.) and make sure it doesn't have any issues lurking that are not disclosed. That is a bigger deal now than what you can physically see or check with your hands. It's a 20-25 year old car, it might need some love and some parts are harder to find so pulling codes is key as well.
