Any idea what these ‘ears’ are on the hood mount hinges?

any ideas what these large ‘ears’ are for on the hood mount hinges? (Theres 2 holes in them)

theres even indentations in the radiator shroud to account for them….however they appear to serve no purpose.

Im needing to make some modfications for an air to water (or possible air to air ) intercooler for supercharged c4 #1

i am considering cutting these off and modifying the shroud to be able to accomodate as big an intercooler as I can

Brackets for hood assist shocks. Lets you open hood with ease and can hold hood half open

ok, great info. I dont have those

just a prop on the drivers side, so i can cut them off and gain some more space inside my radiator shroud
