Has anyone here used ARP intake manifold bolts on their L98 engine with OE aluminum heads? The ones ARP recommended to me are #134-2101.
I was torquing them down on my engine to the 35ft lb spec recommended in the GM service manual and they absolutely ripped the treads out of one of my mounting holes. I suppose this was after successfully torquing about 1/2 the bolts down to spec.
Did you notice of the bolt head had made contact with the Intake before it started to get tight ? In other words was the Bolt to long ?
No, not at all - everything seemed normal until it didn't. I'm planning to try to fix it by using a steel insert. I may just put steel inserts in all of intake manifold bolt holes on the heads. I don't trust the aluminum treads at all.
There is no reason to not trust Aluminum Threads providing they are in good shape. I would give them a good look and put a Heli Coil in where necessary.

Yea, I'm at a loss for words.
The heads just came out of the engine shop a few months ago and I cleaned the threads twice over before trying to mount the intake.
