Default Windshield replaced 03 Vert - No Problems

Took a major rock strike the other day, had to replace the windshield on my 2003 Vert. Filed a claim with USAA and took it to Safelight. They had no problems getting the correct tinted HUD glass and did not need any extra/unavailable parts. They resused the side and top/bottom mounting pieces/facia (or whatever they are called). Can't believe how clear the new glass is!

That is good to hear, I had a windshield replaced on my ATS and the Safelite guy told me C5's were tricky.

Thanks for posting this. I have a 2003 convertible with HUD. I had been told by people who should know a convertible windshield with HUD was unavailable. If Iever have to replace mine I will call safelight stores until I get one that knows about HUD

I had heard/read that the rubber that goes around the top of the windshield frame can't be re-used. I believe that there is only one vendor (Corvette Rubber) who makes a replacement that costs in excess of $700. If they re-used your rubber, have you driven in the rain yet to determine if it seals properly?

Yeah, more nonsense spread on the internet. the rubber is only trim. It doesn’t affect sealing/leaking around the windshield. The windshield is installed with urethane adhesive which seals the glass directly to the frame, as all windshields have been installed for decades now. Decades.

The rubber trim is called “reveal moulding’ and is cosmetic. It is held in place with screws. Totally reusable if it’s in good shape. Easily removable and must be removed before they even begin to cut out the old glass.
