Bought My 2024 Z06 on Feb. 14, Drove It 3 Weeks, Now It's Been in the Shop for 3 Mont
Looking for some advice on an ongoing issue with my Z06.
I purchased the car used on February 14th. It's a 2024 Z06, and unfortunately I was only able to drive and enjoy it for about 3 weeks before it had to go into the shop.
My car has been at the dealer since March 12th (almost 3 months now) because the hard top will not latch completely at the end of the closing cycle.
Initially, I was told that a rail on the hard top cover was bent and that it was not covered under warranty. They quoted approximately $5,000 for the repair. At that time, they told me the repair would take about a week.
Since then, the story has changed multiple times. First, they said the modules/programs were not accepting programming. Later, they said they replaced the entire wiring harness because of communication/programming issues. Now, after replacing the harness, they are telling me the top system is still not operating correctly.
I've also reached out directly to Chevrolet Customer Service, but unfortunately they have not been much help. So far, I haven't gotten any meaningful answers, timeline, or assistance in getting this resolved.
At this point, the car has been in the shop for nearly 3 months—far longer than I've actually been able to drive it—and I'm getting very little clarity on what the actual root cause is or when it will be fixed.
Has anyone experienced a similar hard-top issue on a C8 Z06? Is there a known problem with the top modules, harnesses, or alignment procedures that could cause this? Also, at what point would you escalate this further or involve a Corvette specialist dealership?
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm mainly trying to determine whether this sounds like a dealer diagnosis issue, a GM engineering issue, or something others have seen before.
I think the usual HTC issue is with the cable breaking that flip the corner caps up and down ... Was it a CPO car by chance? All of that stuff should have been checked and tested during he CPO inspection. Did your top have the issue the very first time you used it ? Does the dealer have service records to show if the Top has been worked on before ?
Is it latching but not giving the top complete message? I had an issue on my 22 SR and it was the misalignment of a sensor where the top latches above the windshield.
That sucks...one of a few reasons I stayed clear of the HTC....just so much going on....Did the top work fine for the first three weeks or has it been an issue since you bought it? Also id you buy it from a Chevy dealer or private party... I ask because if it worked fine at first maybe you can trace it back to something that happened during one of the opening/closings...
