I am working on the factory A/C on my '64 coupe and noticed there is no o-ring at the two lines going into the dryer. Shouldn't there be some? Thank you in advance.
My 1965 has o-rings on the dryer fittings. Show us a pic of the fittings and we can tell you for sure. All my fittings are oem.
If your dryer tube looks like this one yes you need o-rings.
.... and don't even think about reusing the dryer even if the system has been sealed. This is one of the required parts to change if you are changing refrigerants. Depending upon how good your hoses are there is a fairly high probability that they will fail soon after charging if they are old.

Thank you. I am going to change out the dryer. The hoses look like new to me so at some point previous owner repaired the system. Surprisingly the previous technician didn't put in the o-rings there. Everywhere else I saw o-rings and that is why I posted this problem.
I would advise you to initially just put o-rings on the dryer and reuse it before installing the new dryer. As old as the components are, there is a fairly good chance your evaporator, compressor, or condenser have problems and you won't know until you draw down the system initially. You don't want to expose the new dryer to moisture before you have to.

The plan is to leave it in place until the system holds vacuum and all items to convert to R134a have been done. Kim has a new GM/DELCO drier (replacement type, but similar to original). I told him about getting his original rebuilt to keep as a spare.
