I need to make room under the hood for the wilwood master cylinder in my 62. I have to cut away part of the hood near the hood latch on drivers side. Shown in picture.
Any recommendation on methods and perhaps a reinforcement for the modified hole. The red lines indicate what needs to be cut away. Area to be cut away
Before cutting away that important structural area, I would contact Wilwood..
They have to of had a problem like that previously, and hopefully a fix for the issue.
There are other options out there than cutting the hood. I would think maybe changing to a lower profile brake master cylinder. I have one from MP brakes that fit under the hood. Yeah, give the company a call.
Probably not the same master/booster, bit I ran into the same problem and solved it by making a mounting bracket that lowered them enough to clear the hood.
I used the corvette central master cylinder which initially hit in the same place. I then installed the U-shaped spacer shown below at the firewall and it angled the master cylinder down enough to clear the hood without modification. I'm not sure the spacer is sold separately but it could be worth a phone call.
I'm up against an air conditioning compressor and radiator pressure tank, and power R&P also in this car. I have spoken with numerous people when this system was built and none warned me of clearance issues, after already getting an adapter that moved it out and down Looks like there is enough clearance to the hood
from the OEM three bolt master, to the 2 bolt wilwood design
My bracket that mounts the master was slightly tilted down, this gives me the hood clearence needed.
you mention other things in the way, i will take pictures of mine tonight
are you able to get the fourth screw in to place the way it sits now? yours just seems really tight.
I am not familiar where the tank and A/C compressor sit in there
