I brought my C8 stingray in for an oil change and they charge me $300. It was 200 for the oil change and $98 for labor. when I asked the service rep why they charge me for labor, he said it was difficult to change oil on these cars. Has anyone else had this done? Does it sound like it’s very exorbitant for an oil change? I’ve never ever paid this much for an oil change and I’ve had a lot of sports cars and muscle cars. I had a Jeep grand Cherokee SRT that held 9 quarts of oil and it only cost me $100. I thought it was a lot until the service mgr told me it held 9 quarts of oil. Then It was a bargan for the Jeep
Haven’t had one done yet, but around Ohio I’m expecting roughly $170–$220 at the dealer. I’m sure it varies by location. I don’t drive a ton, so it’ll probably be once a year for me—and I’m fine paying the dealer just to have it on record for warranty purposes.

If the dealership thinks the C8 Stingray is a difficult oil change you need to find a different shop. Perhaps they think having to have the engine running while checking the oil level makes it difficult for them.
It is easier to change the oil in my C8 Stingray than it is in my wife's Avalon, I need to remove the bottom cover and deal with a cartridge filter on the Avalon.
The fact that both the oil drain plug and the filter are vertical makes this one of the simplest vehicles to change oil that I've ever owned - obviously the service manager has never seen the bottom of a C8 (or assumes you haven't).
If you do it yourself it should cost less than $100. Costs me about $80 for the oil and $6 for the filter and about 45 min of time in my garage to change the oil. And I like spending time in my garage.
That's not that bad. The local Porsche Stealer gets $380, some as much as $450 for an oil/filter/crush washer change. I do it for about $90 and 25 min. of time...same with the C8. $85.
Been there done that. I paid $300 back in '02 for an oil/filter change on my Porsche Boxster. Bought a torque wrench, had the floor jacks and did it myself moving forward. Nine quarts of Mobil 1, 50 cent drain plug washer, and $11.00 filter from Pelican Parts. AutoZone takes the recycled oil, no charge. Audi dealer wants $129 for oil and filter. My neighbor has a 70th Anniversary and a lift. That's where I'll be doing it next
Just seems obvious to take advantage of it being a C8. We all know that the filter and drain bolt are right there, easily accessible. No access plates to take off. I took my wife's Mazda MX-5 RF to the local tire center (Big Ten). They said it took a very long time to change the oil. Nonsense. You only have to remove about 8 bolts to remove an access plate to gain access to the filter and drain plug. We do the entire oil change ourselves in about 20 to 30 minutes. I think it just comes down to laziness or gouging - whichever comes first. I wonder sometimes if they use that as some sic way of punishing people for having a nice or exotic unusual car.
OP, did you call the service department and ask what they charge BEFORE you took it to them? That's what I do to make sure they have reasonable pricing. Huffines Chevrolet - Plano has a good reputation among Corvette owners and I've been happy with their services. But, I called them first - for every service I want done.
