So I've got the dreaded oil leak. It'll be covered under warranty but the entire engine needs to be removed and the repair will take a week. Anyone have experience with this leak/repaid? How does everyone feel about the longevity of the car in terms of reliability after this? Would you keep it after the warranty expires?
Just had it done to mine. Second time the engine has been out of the car. It drops and goes back in relatively easily, so not worried about the repair. Looking like expensive to work on these cars for certain repairs, so as I'm coming up on the B2B ending, just got the Chevy extended protection plan for 96 months. That's my timeline with this car, don't think I want it out of warranty, but by then we for sure would no all the common issues.

Probably not a bad idea. No issues with your car since the repairs?
I can't imagine GM would buy back my car for one issue, no matter how large?
this repair took almost 30 days due to parts availability etc. i had several other issues to the point where in the first 6 months of ownership it was in the shop for more than 30 business days (excludes weekends). So by law it qualifies as a lemon and they had to buy it back and did.

Shhhhh.... Usually they do if you yell loud enough. Call the BBB open a buyback case tell them you want a replacement vehicle it's a longish process but it might just be the right move by the looks of these pics. It costs you nothing.

In NJ the timer includes weekends and holidays. What state is that?
Hey LifesAnesthesia – If it’s a competent shop I would not worry about it at all. I had the front timing cover leak that required the dealer to drop my motor. I gave them the car on a Monday and got it back Friday. I have logged over 9K miles since then and the car has been flawless.
My car was done at Henrick with highly trained techs. The shop was surgical room clean, like a Henrick race shop, you could eat off the floors – first class act all the way.
One thing I want to mention is the comment from Misty C8. Clearly that shop looks like dumpster fire – not to mention the kiddy pool. Clearly the tech did not know what he was doing or was not qualified to do the work. The motor drops with the cradle – it is designed that way for easy out / easy in and is similar to every mid-engine Ferrari since the 355. This guy went out of his way to create a lot of unnecessary work. There are dozens of videos on how to drop the motor, when I went to Hendrick, they pulled it in the cradle with the output shafts and hubs attached - I attached a photo of how it should look like (not my car but same way). I don’t blame Misty for not wanting the car back – I would not either after seeing his picture.
Bottom line – If you have a competent shop, pulling the motor is a non-issue
