My name is Jim Giacolone. I am a life-long car enthusiast. I have restored many 60's-70's muscle cars and built a few hot rods from the frame up in my 69 years. We have a nicely equipped heated shop with a 2-post lift. I have owned C3 Corvettes in the past. Just purchased a 1962 that needs a full restoration. Frame is in good shape without damage or repairs. As expected, the frame and suspension components do have surface rust. The car was originally a 327/340 HP. The engine was replaced in the early 70's with a true LT-1. The T-10 needs to be rebuilt, as it pops out of 2nd gear. The car was repainted with a single stage paint in the late 70's. It was clear coated sometime after that. No major body work that I can detect, but the clear coat was applied over the single stage without proper prep work. I will address paint and body work in the future. I need a hardtop for the car. My plan is a "restomod" build. I am starting with a thorough cleaning of the entire undercarriage, which has 64 years of dirt, grime, and thick undercoating. I want to lower both front and rear 2". I am currently researching how best to accomplish that at a reasonable cost. Not interested in a full frame replacement. I will be making inquiries about a full front suspension rebuild with disk brakes, dropped uprights, and dropped steering arms. I try to do all of my own work. Very pleased with the extensive content on this forum and glad to be a member.
Sincerely,
Jim
