Default best phone location

I found the best location for my cell phone. I took the lower screw out of the A pillar and found a screw 1/8 inch longer. I cut a piece of metal and drilled a hole and counter sinked it. Found a phone holder with a magnetic base (can be either magnet or crimp type holder), I went with the crimp type. It articulates on two ***** so there are many positions to choose from. I put mine close to the side window and just above the dash. It's perfect to stay out of your view of driving but can be easily seen, in fact much easier than looking down at the center console. The arm between the two ***** is only about an inch, leaving my phone three to four inches away from my hands when driving. I can't take a picture of my phone in the holder because it can't be in two locations at the same time. But here is the holder on Amazon
Amazon.com: Coolpow Magnetic Phone Holder for Gym【Strong Magnets】 Tripod Mount Ring Gym Magnetic Phone Holder Attach to Metal Surface, Gym Accessories for Mothers Gift Essentials for All Smartphones 4.7-7" : Electronics Amazon.com: Coolpow Magnetic Phone Holder for Gym【Strong Magnets】 Tripod Mount Ring Gym Magnetic Phone Holder Attach to Metal Surface, Gym Accessories for Mothers Gift Essentials for All Smartphones 4.7-7" : Electronics
I'll go take a picture of it in the car. And BTW its only 10 dollars and a piece of 1/8 inch scrap metal.

I didn't drill any holes in the A pillar, I just used one of the existing holes, so all is in original condition. The magnets hold so strong you have to really try to get it off, so bumping it won't move it. I'm going to install a surface mount USB outlet down by the kick panel, then run the power up to the phone. No wires will be in the way or showing much at all. I have a cigarette lighter USB plug for passengers.

I 3D printed a shift pattern panel with magnets built into it. That worked until my phones started having wireless charging built in. Now I need to update that panel to hold a wireless charging pad.

A better option is to have a navigator to hold the phone.

Best location for your phone is at home. Or inside a glove box or storage bin. Completely out of site and out of reach while driving.

I am not a Civil War re-enactor but have met several and their term if 'farb'. They don't want to see anything period incorrect and I agree. When I take my 'vette out to hell with yakking on the phone and I especially don't like to see farbs inside an old car. But, it's your car so have at it.

Doesn't mean I don't keep the phone on my belt or in my pocket, I put in a really nice completely hidden modern stereo that syncs to it so I can have my entire music collection along for the ride. It has a wired handheld control with buttons and a volume **** that I just tuck under the seat when not in use. They're big enough to use by feel, I just drape it over my leg. The old Delco in the dash is restored and works perfectly if I want that, which once in a blue moon I do.

Do you not use GPS which is on your phone and requires looking at it?

I agree I don't use my phone for talking because it's too loud to hear anyway. I use it for GPS which does not work well under your seat. I'm sorry I even posted another good place to mount your phones, it seems as if I got the grumpy crowd responding to the post.

Exactly! That is the only purpose the phone serves in the car. Hence a navigator, or having the phone someplace visible. Your solution is really clever!

But I make a point of going new places in the C3, while not listening to music. Other folks enjoy their cars in different ways.

I was happy to share my new phone location with everyone. I guess I should have made it clear that it's only for GPS in my opening comments and that may have resulted in less confrontation. Sorry for that.

it's not worth the fine. You pull over. Shut off the engine. Look at your GPS. Remember where your going. Put the phone away and then proceed. They have over head cameras set up to look into your car. And they move them around.

Sorry to hear that Queensland Australia is so invasive, I was not aware of this, yes If I lived there, I would not take the chance either.
