Thumping noises with shifter and front dash shaking
I’m new here, but I’ve been using these threads/ tips since last year September, when I decided to buy a ‘00 C5 manual. ( I really wanna say I regret it, but I don’t deep down lol ) it has 78k miles, and the previous owner had placed a stage 2 clutch in it. This car was my first in learning to drive manual😬, but never the less I figured it out ( less then a month🙌🏽 ) recently I was doing some pulls and on one of them I messed up. I had my foot half way engaged on the clutch and tried to shift from 1st to 2nd (around 5k-6k rpm) I realized I couldn’t because I hadn’t engaged the clutch all the way down and upon me realizing that I was still pressing the gas (ik stupid) while I was pressing the gas I finally engaged the clutch threw it in second but by then I had redlined it already (cause my foot was still pressed on the gas 🤦🏽♂️) and the whole rear end had shaken like it lost gripped but gain traction a split second later when I had panicked and threw it in 3rd to prevent engine damage from redlining it in 2nd. So now whenever I reverse or put it in first and wait for the clutch to “bite” the whole cars makes a weird thumping sound with some minor shaking internally, and when I shift it shakes a little and when I’m down shifting. It only makes a sound when I engage the clutch. Only then. When I throw it in neutral or driving without pressing the clutch it’s perfectly fine. I’m hoping it’s a very burned clutch/disk. I’ll add a video of bit making the noise during the “bite” in reverse. Thank you !

I’m trying to get a maintenance inspection by Chevrolet or any shop but they keep denying me saying that they only work on vehicles from 2010 and up or they just don’t work on corvettes. So I’ll just trip to figure it out myself…. Hopefully.
Well I appreciate that! I’ll keep calling and asking, but obviously if no one can, I’ll put it in the garage and check it out with the boys.
Buddy had an issue going into gear on has twin and one of the cltuch plate was stuck because the sprip on the cluch fell off and jammed one of the plates.

That’s what I’m hoping it is. If it’s clutch work or the clutch disc or something along those lines, easy day. Hopefully this weekend I can get the back up and have my buddy press the clutch and see what’s going on in there. I’ll make sure to keep you updated.
