Bought a “brand new” Z06… put about 1,500 miles on it and the hard top stopped working.
“service convertible top.” Got stuck about halfway down.
take it to the dealership, let it sit for a week before they touch it. As usual. Chevrolet service is awful and corvette should be its own brand, this is old news.
Now they’re telling me it’s a “sensor” issue, but they have to send my brand new $115,000 car to a body shop to tear the whole car apart to install the sensor.
im pretty irate as you could imagine…
anyone have any insight on the issue? Or who I could reach out to at GM/ Chevrolet.
Thank you for bringing your sensor concern to the forum. Being without your Corvette for any reason or amount of time can be extremely frustrating. We are glad you took it the dealership and would be happy to serve as a layer of help between you and them in order to reach a resolution. Mine stopped half way. I didn't know how I could get the car into the dealer with the tonneau cover open. I couldn't imagine loading onto a flatbed with the top open. Frustrated and trying to figure out what happened I wiggled the tonneau cover a bit and it slowly drifted closed. When I got the car into the dealer they worked with GM technical support and determined that a wire had chaffed and created an open circuit. I have had no problems since they repaired it 4 years ago.
Knowing what I know today, there is no way I would let them send the car off to a body shop to repair. They would be just a likely to further exacerbate the problem. The HTC has too many sensors that can be misaligned and a body shop typically does not understand the electrical side of things. Best of luck with your repair efforts.
I’ve had the locking sensor malfunction twice when closing the hardtop, which threw the car into limp mode. The dealer fixed it under warranty both times. Because of that, I won’t open or close the hardtop unless I’m on level ground and completely stopped, since both failures happened when I wasn’t.
