New Purchase C8 Corvette Z51 brake cooling ducts kit
Find a new 2026 Z51 with 4 miles on the clock. Deal with the salesman over the weekend. Surprised but they gave me a great trade in price for 2024 Z51 and honored GMS pricing. A few hours from my house so I go there yesterday. Deal was legit and they honored everything that was discussed. Get home and put it in the garage. This afternoon I go out to put a few things from the 24 into the 26. Pop the frunk and find a large clear plastic bag with 6 or 7 black plastic pieces, 2 bags of bolts and nuts and 3 page install guide. Pull it up online and it was some sort of brake duct cooling kit for the Z51 package supposed to be installed during dealer PDI except for 2 pieces in the rear brakes are track only install and could get damaged with street use.
Call my salesman who said let me get the GM involved. GM calls rather quickly, i explain everything and he gives me his cell number and said send me a photo and he would get with techs and look into it about PDI and I did.. End of the business day so I figured he would call tomorrow. Get a phone call few minutes later. Its the salesperson. He said he went and spoke to the techs about the parts and about the PDI supposed to have the parts installed at dealer. He claims the tech(s) told him it was a mistake and that those parts do not go on a new Corvette Z51 and that the parts belonged on another car and tech must have placed the sealed bag in the frunk of a brand new Corvette Z51 by mistake and forgot about them to put on another new car.
Unreal. Will this void factory warranty in anyway as I will never race or track the car. Even if they offer a install they are 2 hours and 120 miles away. Any thoughts or suggestions" Thanks.
I received the parts as well. I took it out of the vehicle and stored it somewhere in my garage. Like you, I will never track mys car so for everyday driving the brake cooling parts are not required. Just take out and put aside.

Your '24 should have also had the brake cooling ducts on it, did it not, or did you never look?
The Z51 is the track version for the Stingray, that is why the ducts are included.
The rear scoops hang low and are easily damaged, and can collect debris that can block cooling and in some circumstances cause a fire, that is why that part doesn't get installed.
Warranty issue for not installing them? No.
But, keep all that stuff for the next owner, he may actually use a Z51 for its intended purpose.
Mine came in the frunk as well. As mentioned above, I don't track my Vette so I just took them out and stored them in my garage. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks everyone. Will just set them aside. My 2024 did not have the bag of parts in the frunk so they were either installed or not and I did not even know. Glad to see that dealer after the sale do not care and just make up stuff. As from my original post about reaching out to the dealer. and a few quick responses and then the lies. I mean, parts do not belong on the Z51 and tech left them in the Corvette and the parts belong on another vehicle. Everything with the deal was straight forward and I really liked the dealership up until this. I mean just own up to it. No reason to make up such BS! Just got a survey from the dealer itself (not the GM one). I will give them a few days to at least respond before I fill out any surveys.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
