Hello out there, I have a question on brakes. I'm wanting to upgrade to the 1967 Dual Master cylinder but do not want to add the distribution/brake switch unit. I just want to run a one piece line from the master cylinder to the left front block and a one piece line to the left rear block. That line is 1/4 inch. I'm not sure of the left front line size. I think the blocks are 1/4 inch inlet and 3/16 out to the front crossover and the short line to the left front hose. and the rear 3/16 out to the rear crossover line. Question: does anyone supply just the two lines out of the master cylinder? From talking to several venders that sell the complete upgrade kits---they don't sell the two lines separately. Has anyone ever installed a set up like this? Do the two lines have to be custom built?
Any information on this would be grateful.
thanks
You can do what you propose. Not sure anyone sells the exact two connecting lines you want, since without the distribution block in place their lengths would be custom fit and not a big selling item.
However, Classic Tube or Inline tube might be able to custom make what you want if you provide sketches and exact lengths. A friend of mine did this for a different car. You could also fab them yourself, or use Parker or Swagelok tubing fittings and splice in the two short adapter lines to the existing brake lines. The Parker and Swagelok fittings I mentioned are industrial fittings and have the strength and reliability that you would need. Do not substitute.
Yep, I did the same thing as anyChevy. Plug the distribution block and route the rear brake line to the master cylinder. The FLAPS has adapters to fit the master cylinder and adapt to the front and rear brake lines.
I used a Corvette Central upgrade kit on my 'non-power '66. it does not use a proportioning valve. it comes with the lines and everything needed. it works great.
