Hello! I’m almost finished modifying an LT1 intake for an l98. It’s a stock 1988, only modification being muffler delete and a magnaflow center cat. I’m running a stock $6E ARAP tune from a 1989 that I downloaded off of the tuner pro website. I was wondering if doing this swap without a new tune immediately would be harmful? I also really want to learn how to tune this car myself and was wondering if anybody knows where to go for more info or has more info on what to focus on while tuning for modifications that improve airflow like this intake, headers, and cam. I know that the MAF caps at 254 G/S, but if I don’t reach that number do I have to touch the MAF tables at all?
Arap is a good tune to use, you will not max maf gps at wot. Start with fueling corrections watching int/blm if you don’t have a wb. Reading the spark plug can be useful as well . You not drastically changing hp but reducing torque with the short runner manifold. It will breath better at higher rpm.

Thanks for the info! I’m planning on getting a WB here soon, which will help a lot. How should I go about correcting fueling? If the target AFR is 12.5 at 70%-WOT would the ECM take the MAF input and adjust the injector pulse with accordingly? Or is there some things that I have to go in and modify?
After normal driving is tuned with maf tables you can adjust pe , pe % change to afr vs rpm
Gotcha, currently my PE table is at something like -7 after 3,500 rpm (guesstimating, don’t have access to my laptop right now) does this mean it’s subtracting fuel at high rpm’s?

-3.9 3600 is a reduction in fuel. But as mentioned you would need a wideband to see afr or try to average o2mv to calculate what the actual afr is. Just because it’s a negative value doesn’t make it lean you need to verify.

Got it, I’ll definitely be ordering a WB then. Thank you for the info!
