Default How long after purchase did you finally drive in the rain?

I bought my first corvette (26 Eray HTC) on 28 April 2026 and as of today, only have 461 miles on it. Call me crazy but I love seeing it in the garage in its pristine condition. Lol. I don't even have any dust on the inside of the wheels. I have not, nor do I want to drive it in the rain just yet. Yes, I know there is something wrong with me, but hopefully I can make myself get over this and just start driving the car like it was meant to be driven. Just wondering if I'm the only weirdo!! LOL.

I have only driven my car in the rain, or even on rain wet streets a few times in the year I have had it, but it is really just a consideration of the fact that I don't want to have to wash it all the time.
My car drives perfectly well in the rain, drove in heavy rain coming home from my sister's house up by Dallas, no issue at all, but it was sure filthy when I got home.
But, were I you, I sure would have completed my basic break-in miles long before now, too much fun to drive and show it off not to!

I’ll drive her in the rain daily if I have to. Love driving it and love cleaning her. It’s hard for me to jump in the other car unless I just washed and cleaned and it’s actively raining.

The 2nd day in the mountains by tail of the dragon from leaving the NCM. It is just a Corvette no reason to hid it from the rain.

I drive my car to work so driving in the rain is inevitable. Surprisingly enough, the wipers on the windshield work just fine.

Like some others I had no choice, after the PDI I had to drive ~50 miles in very heavy rain. Was in Weather Mode as I always use in Rain, Wipers going full speed. I took back roads and was going thru puddles that had water splashing up higher than the front fenders.

I was concerned as my 2017 C7 Grand Sport with only 335 rear tires was terrible in rain. Rear end stepping out if taking a turn faster than normal in the wet. Nannies caught it but no fun. I expected my ZER 345 Summer tires to also bad. No way, AWD kept in very stable and felt confident. In fact where there was no traffic, other cars or people I made some turns at speeds I would not have tried in my 2017 Grand Sport. Never felt any tendency for the rear to step out. In fact told my wife how good it was and where with prior Vettes if it was heavy rain often took her AWD BMW SUV into town. First time I mentioned she said why not get the Vette dirty. So for 28 months that is what I do. Been caught in heavy rain and all is fine, it tracks perfectly!

Proof I put more miles on it in two years so had 7500 end year two (actually 23 months) and had the DCT Filter changed. With my 2020 C8 Z51 took three years! They, like all my now 7 Vettes are DDs. Been retired since 2000 and only drive the Vettes locally so not a lot of miles/year. Only other car I have is my tubbed, '34 Ford ProStreet Rod. It has 16.5 section with rear tires (420 metric) rear tires. Don't want to ever drive with even wet pavement! It mostly goes to local car shows, and it's now 26 years old since built perhaps just 1 each year.

Frankly the E-Ray AWD has got me out of some tight sports. I have never had an accident with another car in 67 years driving. But have had what I call Off The Road Excursions. No one hurt but my CJ5 V8 Jeep with large All-Terrane tires and my Datsun 260Z did require minor body repair. So where safe, no other cars, home people I do occasionally drive aggressively for fun.

Yep my next Vette will be AWD. Plan is a 2017 Grand Sport X.
