Alternator install issues - length of alternator belt
I’m replacing the Alternator on my 1980 L82 Vette and am having issues with the length of the Alternator belt.
The old alternator was a larger one and I really don’t think it was the proper one to begin with – I was having electrical
fluctuations with the lights

V-belts can come in a variety of lengths. If the one you have is too short, then get one that is 1 inch longer. It says right on the photo that you have a 53" belt. Just go to your local auto parts store and they can get you a longer one of the same width.
