New Owner, Concerned With Ticking Noise While Driving
Hey Guys,
I picked up a beautiful 2017 Grand Sport M7 with only 24k miles on it last week. I flew out to NC to pick it up and drove it home to Florida. I'm loving the car so far, but have a few gripes with it. The one that is annoying and concerning me the most though is this ticking sound I can hear while driving at low RPMs. I've done some research and it sounds like the most common possibility is that it's normal sounds from the direct injection. I'm hoping I can gain a bit of peace of mind from some of your feedback here.
The car has an aftermarket cam, Kooks headers and exhaust. Here are some videos of the sound. Any feedback is appreciated.
This is a video while driving when I notice the sound the most:
The first things I started to do, on my new to me 2014 C7, start changing all the fluids. Make sure you do NOT use the latest, greatest, Monkey Juice. Research the current fluid recommendations from GM. Good example: GM now recommends 0W-40 dexosR oil for the engine. Many people insist on going cheap and using their own, "LIKETOUSE" oil. For a running engine noise, check the belt and the tensioner. Does the ticking change with RPM?

The first thing I did when I got it home was changed the oil. I used Mobil 1 5W-30 and an AC Delco filter. I didn't notice any difference with the noise after changing the oil. The ticking does seem change with the engine RPM.
