Default Check your tires

I have casually looked at my tires and they looked good to me.

7,500 miles on my car, really only used to beat on, so hard miles.

I had heard some noise and thought I was having a tire issue but I was on an Interstate so I kept it going to see if I could get it home, I did not make it.

First, and hopefully the last time on a tow truck

I look at my tires Cup2R’s all the time and noticed (at 5,600 miles) that they are wearing mostly on the center, so I lower the pressure from 35 to 31. I don’t understand why they are not wearing on the inside more like they used to on my C7 Z06.

My dude, you took cup 2r to 7500 mi???

I dont track my car or beat on it, 2600 was all i got until i started showing red on the tire depth meter. Just made the switch to ps4s that i have run on 42 of my other vehicles, already prefer the ride for the roas.

I also had them run street alignment while i was there ($269)

What is your rear camber setting, and based on wear both sides it looks a littlle imbalanced. What do you mean by "beat on"? Does that include tracking on circuits, frequent canyon runs with hard cornering? Or is it mostly "hard launches" including burnouts and occasional doughnuts, drifting in parking lots, etc? If none of this is true, you need an alignment

I have a track alignment incl. -3 deg front/-2 rear and leave it there, only drive weekends on canyons in between track events every 2-3 mos. Burnouts and drifting will kill the inside rears very fast especially with -2+ camber rear, I save occasional short burnouts for pit exit to heat them :-)

I'm surprised it failed I've driven home from old Willow Springs skidpad with steel belts showing.

That and the PS4 is a runflat that in theory, is supposed to be able to go 50 miles, if you keep it under 50 mph.

And they did fine, I drove on it flat about 7-8 miles at 55-60 mph to get off the interstate but I did not think it would be smart to drive the additional 30ish miles back to my house. I was happy I was able to drive off the Interstate and to a safe comfortable area to wait for a tow truck.

No these are PS4's, most people seem to get 15k+ out of them

These tires are amazing, they can do that removing so much worry about flats or failure at high speed. But the most amazing thing is they also perform great on track at advanced level speeds and cornering loads delivering fast lap times. I didn't think that was possible in a 300 TW street tire.

I've been tracking only DOT R comps (3R) and Pirelli full slicks for so long I didn't know about advancements in these street compounds--they used to crumble at track temps but after 2 hard track days and many canyon runs these PS4S ZPs still look great, and are still gripping like champs with almost no squeal driven at high Gs on tight canyon turns in Malibu hills. Much better than the PSC2s I tracked 6 years ago on my ZL1.
