Going to 510 coil overs from fortune auto. Car is already lowered on C6Z bolts, and has (10yr old) C6Z shocks all around. The rears need replaced, and since fortune auto hand builds these with a seven week lead time, I’m considering Bilstein B8 for the rear to get by until all of the parts needed are in. Decent idea?
Yes, great questions. With my background, I don't go out in the world with defective gear.
For seven weeks, I'm planning to drive on properly working shocks, eliminating high speed float, then when the coil over's are installed, give the Bilstein's to my neighbor, who owns two 99's. He's thrown me the keys to his modified (NOS, etc.,) C5 so many times just to go drive, I guess it's a Texas thing to spend a little now, then give back later. He's running stock shocks on both, and I think the NOS car could benefit from an upgraded rear shock. That, plus the fact that he put a NOS bottle on my front porch the other day, reminding me that it's my turn to go fill it up - again. Lol! Went ahead and ordered the Bilstein's. I'll provide feedback after installation. Of course, after the 510's are installed all the way around, I'll also provide feedback on the differences in driving experience. Thanks
