Default Completley Soaked Inside

So, I am in a position for the next couple of weeks where I need to keep my car outside in a parking lot. Well, it rained like crazy last night, no big deal. But I went to go to work this morning and the floor was completely soaked, as well as the seats. I had some towels in the passenger seat, and they were so wet I had to wring them out. And before you ask, yes, the targa top was fully sealed and the windows were up. When I sat down, I got wet from the seat, and then I checked to see if the seat controls still worked. It was 50/50. I could move my seat forward but not back, and lean the seat forward but not back. The passenger seat controls do not work either.

Of course, I am away from my home dealership, but I drove it down to the nearest Chevy dealer. It drove fine, with no warning lights or anything to be concerned with.

We talked when I got there, and they said they would send it to a body shop to check for leaks, etc. I mentioned that I have the GMPP Platinum warranty, and he proceeded to tell me it might get denied if they determine the water was from a faulty seal or something. But I should be good if it was a panel issue or something else. At this point, I was already heated due to the situation overall and didn't want to get into it with him, especially since it's not like he's the one denying anything.

I guess, has anyone ever dealt with this before or have any advice in case it does come back denied?

Read the warranty but I'm pretty sure it excludes weather stripping and passenger compartment seals.

I'm looking for my contract, and of course it excludes that. But I wonder if it does, would they then deny fixing everything that was caused by that.

Probably, it excludes damages attributable to a non-covered part.

I'm confused... was this the first time it was in the rain? No previous leaks, just a waterfall all at once? How old is it? I'm sorry, but I cannot get a handle on what actually occurred without more info. Maybe someone else can. Good luck with GM.

Well, after talking with more people here I guess it rained harder than I thought. Looking more at the car it seems as if water rose high enough to get under the door sill and into the car.

Sounds more like flood damage than rain damage. Perhaps you should check with your auto insurance to see if they cover flood damage.

Ya, that's what I am doing now. I just didn't think the water would have risen that high during the storm.

Sounds like a flood car to me especially if the seats aren't working. The insurance company might be your best shot at this time. They will probably salvage it out.

Dealership called back and they said they had it "under water for 1.5 hours" with no leaks. So now it's on to an insurance claim. So....I'm looking forward to that.

So where would you be parked that rain water could rise / collect to a height like that and you wouldn't be aware of it ?
Nothing else in the vicinity that would indicate water pooling to that height ?
I know those things are low but they aren't a go-kart.
VW bugs would float - how does that make you feel LOL

Usually flood damage is quite obvious as the water typically leaves a high-water line showing how high the water got. Any evidence of that, inside or outside of the car?

For what it is worth

a number of years ago at a bash a GM Quality representative at a seminar said if the car ever got real wet sell it! It has many sensors and they will start to fail

I hate to say it, but it is time to sell/trade in your car, a C8 has a ton of electrical parts & sensors that can/will fail when exposed to water. The seat controls are already failing

It is possible the parking lot where the car was parked may have clogged storm drains causing rain runoff to rise quite high overnight and then recede by morning.
I've seen that happen.
