Hello fellow C6 lovers, Recently my older brother passed away and his wife inherited his estate which includes a 2006 Boxster. I was interested in possibly buying it from her, but she insists on giving it to me to keep it in the family. The title is in his name and I was considering just signing his name and predating it before his passing and then just transferring the title in my name to bypass probate which could takes months to get the car. Nobody is contesting me getting the car.
I hate for the car to just sit for a long period of time. The car is on the west coast and I live on the east coast, so I will have to get it shipped too.
Any comments or advice on possibly expediting the process of getting the title ?
Thanks in advance........
If all sides agree there is nothing to worry about.Look aat all those congress people with homes on both coasts and claiming both are primary resident. Sometimes oone has to bend the law.
His wife should be able to sign the title.over..worst case, she may need to get a title with both their names on it to sign it over first.
.
Yep, if she has power of power of attorney, and sign the title over to you and just attach a copy of the power of attorney letter with the title. If not and only has the Will, then will need to register the car in her name first, then she can sigh that title over to you in the end. And does not matter on the dollar amount she sells/gives the car to you, since most states do not use that number anymore, but the actual value of the car to title and plate it.
Note, if you where in the will to get the car, than copy of the will and certification of his death would all that would be needed to register the car in your name.
The car was willed to his wife, not me, but she doesn't want it and wants me to have it. She is still grieving and going through an illness herself. I hate to bug her about the car, but it's just sitting in the garage. For any car that's not good especially an old Porsche.
