Default 2005 automatic with service traction control light

Hello folks,

i know this topic has been covered several times.
driving home sunday evening slowing down to enter my subdivision and I recieved the dreaded light and warning.
everything seemed fine until I had to pull up into the driveway and the car bogged down (probably stuck in higher gear) then gave me the CEL.
parked the car and pulled the codes on my code reader. the only one I got was the U0101.
I put the car up on my jacks to see if I could find any wiriing from the headers back to the transmission that could have been affected but didnt find anything. I installed long tube headers last year and thought maybe something might have moved too close to the headers but everything was still neatly tucked away.
I checked fuse 1 (that one was labeled TCM on the box lid) and it looked fine. I pulled the front passenger wheel well shield and looked at the TCM blue plug and it seemed intact but I havent pulled it off yet.
I havent checked other fuses yet not sure which ones would be which since ive read a couple threads on this and the fuse numbering seems to be a little different.
the code did clear when I pulled it with my tool but I havent restarted the car yet.
So, my questions.
do I need to disconnect the battery to pull the TCM plug to clean and check its connections?
if I do how then would I read any power signals to the plug or through the fuses.
what am I looking for when I do get to checking power. locations to check specifically. I only have a basic digital fluke but I can check voltage, ohms, current if necessary.
also the battery is 1 year old, stays on a tender. new mechman alternator with slightly higher output (forget the numbers).
new starter and grounds checked cleaned previously. all this was done when I installed the long tubes last year.
Only place I havent been to yet is under the battery carriage.

thanks,

Greg

For any "no comm with TCM" you need to check the battery feed, ignition feed and ground...you don't use a DMM...you use a bulb that draws about 1-2 amps...if powers and grounds are good you need a new TCM...below is the low amp bulb I use...when you "checked" the fuse did you check it with a 12 volt test light ?

I only pulled the fuse and looked to see if it was open. Ill also need to go get a light tester as I dont have one.
I didnt check any other fuses.
based on your response I can pull the plug with the battery still connected in order to obtain voltage to the respective pins in the TCM
Ill need to do a little more reading to understand the specific pins to check with the tester.
thank you for your guidance. I know youve supplied this to others previously in my reading.

Watch the video first...you can use a 12 volt INCANDESCENT test light but for checking these powers or ground a bulb that draws a few amps is better...you can get the bulb and connector at a parts store...a 24-28 watt bulb will work...a test light only draws maybe 300-400 milliamps... the pins are 31 (IGNITION 1 voltage) so ignition system must be on !!...pin 32 is battery voltage and 49 is the ground...you can read this on the connector view...you can use the 12 volt test light to check for power on both fuse test points...you don't go by a "visual" inspection !!!...I would not worry about the CAN bus lines because if it were a bus issue you would have a no comm with the ECM and EBCM since the ECM and EBCM is downstream of the TCM.

thanks. this will be later today for me. Ill circle back later when i am able to get to this.
