2020 C8 3LT Z51 with about 16,000 miles. Camera failed last year and it took about a month to get the part. I heard the failure was mostly on cars that see track use and/or have headers. Mine has headers and sees frequent track days.
I had suggested to the service manager that we wrap the cable with heat shielding (which I had provided and was in the car) but they said "Nope! If it fails again we'll replace it again". So here we are... again.
My plan is to go in ahead of the appointment (July 28) and discuss preventative measures again. I don't want to waste their time or my time/money. Plus I'm loading the car on the trailer that night to drive 15hrs to a HPDE for the weekend.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions on this issue?
Thanks!
Never heard of it, but it sounds like you have a good wrap on the problem and the solution. Sounds to me that you need to wrap the cable to ensure it doesn't get too hot. I'm actually surprised they are warranty it out if they know an aftermarket part is causing the issue. If they will not put the thermal protection on that you provided. I suggest after replacement you do it at home. Also is your headers coated or do you have a heat blanket on the headers? This is another way around it if the cable is hard to get too. Heat Blanket would be the easiest.
The dealer I go to is quite good (and walking distance from work) They have actually commented a couple of times that "its so great to see someone actually using their Corvette" so they've been reasonable.
The headers are coated and wrapped.
I've been reading since posting and found a couple of POSSIBLE solutions to try:
Disconnect the battery for a short time;
Reset the infotainment system by pressing and holding the phone "hang up" button on the steering wheel;
Remover the SD card as there have been issues where they're corrupt and may cause issues;
Some say even leaving the drivers door open for 30 mins can reset things... I'm skeptical.
I'll try these this evening and report back. I suspect it's another coax failure as the problem presented itself at the track, after a run and of course when I was backing into my spot the screen was blank. All other cameras work.
Awesome. Good to document. Glad to hear about a good dealer that is willing to help. If they are coated and wrapped, its probably cooler than OEM you would think.

I have the same issue. Yes, I have coated headers also. I have a wire harness o/o as I type. yes it is heat related. Korey from Paragon Performance speaks about the issue on FB in a video in depth of the issue, cause, and possible solution. I was trying to link the video here but no success.
