Default Fuel Door No Longer Sitting Flush with Body After Fuel Filler Recall Work

After I had my Z06 fuel filler recall done my fuel door no longer sits flush with the body, it actually sits lower. The Corvette master tech at the dealership (who is a very competent guy) tried messing around with it but they were closing soon and I said we'll sort it out later.

It's 2 hours round trip to the dealership, so I'd rather just mess with it myself than bringing it back there.

The problem is there's no adjustability as far as I can tell, there's no adjustable bump stop. The only theory I have is that the fuel filler insert (which is independent of the fuel door) looks ever so slightly pushed in on the right side. And that's the area where the fuel door latches on to lock in place. I tried pulling it out gently with an allen key hooked onto it, but it didn't budge and I didn't want to force it and break anything.

Anyone experience a similar issue and able to get it adjusted?

Pitiful. Back to the dealer and another reason why one always needs to carefully inspect their work before leaving.

How did the install "screw" this up?
Seemed so simple to install, did they bend the hinge?

Did you post this on the Z06 sub forum? If this has happened to others, you are more likely to find them there.
