Misplaced Ratpack and the Tornado

Well if you haven't caught the news a F3 tornado came through our quiet part of the country last night. A few of the homes destroyed were about a mile from our home. I awoke about 2:00 AM to hear the warning sirens off in the distant. There was a bunch of rain, thunder and lightning with some strong winds. I made sure the garage was closed up and nothing was loose in the yard. About ten to fifteen minutes later is when the tornado came through. I've seen the after affects on TV and ridden out a few Hurricanes when we were in VA but nothing I've seen can describe the damage here. I saw an industrial park which looked like someone took a machette to it and Power transmission steel towers which resembled a crumbled piece of aluminum foil to barns collapsed. Some parts of Warrick county might be out of power for a few more days, we were extremely lucky to only have been out for about two hours. After seeing the destruction, I am relieved to have bought an all brick house instead of the vinyl like in VA.
Through all the chaos an awesome event is taking place. Everyone around here is pulling together to help each other out. Too bad the national news hasn't shown all of this, a truck load of volunteers showing up to help clear roads, people with damaged houses pulling wagons with refreshments for the rescue workers, business's setting up grills and other refreshment area's for the workers. Just amazing!
Maybe we are over this wakey weather now and can go on with fall and winter.

Glad you made out OK Leo. You just can't seem to get away from the wrath of Mother Nature.

I don't think I could convince Patsy to move back. Hurricane's are worse than the tornado. With the Hurricane you get the slow build up and all the BS from the weather guys, a tornado is done and gone before anyone can really do much about it. From the time I heard the warning sirens to the time it hit was probably about 5 minutes. Some people said it was close to 10 seconds and it was all over. They said we had somewhere close to 158 MPH winds. I still am in a state of shock at how close we were to where it touched down. I think the news was saying something like a 3/4 mile wide stretch and 20 miles long.
I know I can distinguish the sound of a freight train and the sound of a tornado now.

Get to the really important stuff!
So when do you think I can drive your new Z06?
Missya buddy
