Corvette Corral Rolex 24 2012

I think you'll need a ticket to get in on Friday to see the Corvette Lap - and you'd want one anyway to see the Rolex practice/qualifying and the Conti Tire Challenge race!!
Below is a schedule of events I pulled off the GRM (Grassroots Motorsports) site.
I also just checked the Daytona Speedway site, and they say one-day tickets for Thursday and Friday are available at the gate - Friday infield/grandstand ticket is $15, and a garage pass is an additional $10.
The "Corvette Lap" isn't listed on the GRM schedule, but AFAIK it will be at 8:00AM Friday morning.
I assume the ticket windows will be open early because it shows the garages are open at 7:00AM, so it sounds like you'll be in town before Friday, and if you don't already have a ticket for Friday, get out to the track early and buy a Friday ticket!!
Friday night we're getting together at Miller's Ale House-Daytona. If you will meet up with us Friday night at 7:00PM please let me know so I can update the restaurant with an accurate head count so they can seat all of us.

I'll be at the race, but not with the Vette. We will be there all four days. Gieco Caveman camping area parking spot 101 and 102, that's NAPCAR turn 4. Stop by and have a beer.

The UPS guy just brought my Corvette Corral stuff.
It included
BTW - the hat is a generic Rolex 24 hat. There isn't any "Corvette Logo" on it as I expected.
It says the Car Corral parking in the infield will open at 6:00AM and you can see on the map below where to enter the Speedway to go through the Turn 4 Tunnel to enter the infield.
However, staging for the Corvette Lap will start at 7:00 with the lap beginning at 8:00, and we will enter Gate 70 to stage for the Corvette Lap.
You can see on the map that Gate 70 is around on the backside of the track - we'll enter the track on the SuperStretch (the back straight) somewhere around the Bus Stop (the chicane just before NASCAR Turn 3).
So....my recommendation is to not enter the infield before the Corvette Lap or you'll just have to exit the infield to go around to the backside of the track to stage for the Corvette Lap - just wait until after the Corvette Lap to enter the infield for parking in the Corvette Corral.
C-ya in a couple days!!

It included
- tickets for me and my wife
- pink wrist bands for access to the Sprint FanZone and garages
- an infield parking pass for the windshield of the Vette
- a "voucher" for the Corvette Lap
- 50th Rolex 24 hats

Just realized Corvette Car Corral parking is located in Lot 1, front of the speedway and not in the infield. When I had my Porsche, we parked in the infield Porsche Corral. You would think they could do the same for us. So now were to park, infield for convenience or outside with other Corvettes.

If you haven't seen this post by TRACKMAN2 over in the AutoX/Roadrace section, take a look:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...-email-me.html
George says he's got a big announcement for those of us that will be at the race.
I emailed him - I don't know what it is, but I want to get in on it if it's something really CL!!
Anybody else that hasn't notified me in for our get-together Friday night 7:00PM at Miller's Ale House-Daytona???
If so, let me know how many in your party so I can notify the restaurant - we're up to 27 folks already!!

Yes - for Saturday and Sunday it is just outside the main straight grandstands.
For Friday it will be in the infield, and you'll enter off Midway Ave, just south of the entrance to the Volusia Mall, and then you'll go through the Turn 4 Tunnel into the infield for the Corvette Corral parking.
The Corvette Lap will stage around the back of the track through Gate 70 starting at 7:00AM, then the lap begins at 8:00AM. I suggest that if you're doing the Corvette Lap Friday morning, don't bother going into the infield until after the Corvette Lap, then after we run the track we can go around to enter on the east side entrance to go through the Turn 4 Tunnel for parking in the infield.

Kinda bogus!!
I've run many HPDE's on the track, so I've got a fair amount of time roaring around at full blast, and I certainly didn't expect anything like that, but I was very disappointed at what we got.
I've run lead-follow laps at Talladega during Vettes for Vets events, and you get to run the whole track - up onto the banking and at whatever speed you can do if hold back a little and get some running room to open 'er up on the back straight (I've done 168 there).
Butt....this was the first parade lap I've done at Daytona, and they wouldn't let us get up onto the banking. I don't think I got over about 40 the whole way around!!!
During the race the DP cars are running 1:42-1:45 laps, and the GT cars run about 1:50-1:55. I run 2:01-2:06 at HPDE's.
The "Corvette Lap" took 7 minutes!!!
Oh well, it got me out of the house early that morning!!

Well done Video, did you do a video of the other group. There were two groups that ran, wish we could have driven faster. I was looking forward to the high bank, but glad we had the drive.
Thanks

I was in the first group and we did ok, must have been in the second group that you took video of. When we were finished we left the track. When they had the drivers meeting, look like an AARP meeting. lol But fun for all.
