Bumping this post for updated info.

Looking for a Corvette repair shop in Northern Virginia, DC Beltway, specifically Tysons Corner.

I've got a C3 that need basic tuneup, brake, and exhaust repairs. Used to go to Corvette Specialists back when they were down on Eisenhower Ave. Been looking for a good shop for some time. Tony's gets mixed reviews. Anywhere else? Willing to travel some to find a competent shop. It's a small block Chevy for goodness sake. How hard can this be? Are there any speed shops in Northern VA???

Thanks,
Darin

Weber tire in Fairfax for brakes and suspension work. Try speed unlimited in Marlow heights for shops for other engine related stuff.
Super car engineering also over the bridge, I think they are still in business. Started by the great Malcolm Durham I think is now run by his son.

Darin,

Last time I was getting some 20" low profile tires mounted and balanced over at Skyline Automtive in Bailey's Cross Roads, they had a few cars from the 70s in the bays and on property. Some really nice stuff, too. They are on the frontage road just east of Columbia Pike on Rt. 7

So I asked, and they said they have a couple guys who love to work on the older cars.

They priced my work fairly for the M&B, and also some work we had done on my wife's SUV which was outside of warranty. So again, fair, and good. Hope this helps.

Joe Malo had been gone from Koons Chevy of Tysons for years. He had gone to work at a highland dealer in Tysons, Jag, I think, but was looking to move south.

For tires, there's a shop in Bailey's x'roads called Skyline Automotive. They invented a BUNCH of money on new equipment, and have the latest Hunter tire equipment, including the "touchless" mounting system. They did a pair of 20" Corvette wheels for me, no problem. They were fairly priced, too.

I hope this info is of help/use.
i think Joe is living in Florida which is where I should be living. I hate cold weather

ive been using pohanka for all my corvette needs for when it’s more than I can handle. Tires on the 427 is an example. They stock corvette tires and do not damage the wheels

everything else I typically do myself.

***UPDATE***

I found Joe Malo and he's still in the area!

He's at G and C Tire and Auto on Willard Rd. in Chantilly
https://www.gandcchantilly.com

He's still working on Corvettes (and now other vehicles). I plan on using him again in the future, now that he's been found.

Hope this is helpful!

@Bluewasp No, he's not an owner. He's a technician, and works on not only the Corvettes which come into the shop, but many other brands/vehicles. It was good to hear he's around still. Not sure if he went to Florida, or if that was the former employer trying to not have me search out where he went... Regardless, found him.

G&C is a tire dealer ..Malo is their alignment technician....For someone familiar with C3 Corvettes, G &C quoted me $350.00 for a four wheel alignment regardless that all front and rear suspension was rebuilt.....They said they cant make money on them and would prefer not to do them...I guess Malo got slow in his old age..LOL

Where did you end up having it done? You said quoted so I assume you went somewhere else. I need someone to align my C4 and it's lowered.

I can't wait for this stupid COVID stuff to be over. We should have a BBQ once that happens.

For sure, I'm up for BBQ.

When you are looking for great barbecue, a nice drive AND pure gas, consider Jordan Springs Market. Near Summit Point, you can get lunch and fill up with ethanol-free 93 octane.

Cheers,

I had Dixie Bones again. But open for other options, including a cookout, so long as it involves no Coronas.
