I haven't displayed a front tag since 1980 in Virginia. Never received a ticket. I've been stop for other infractions, many times , and no missing tag citation. Fairfax county and the state police

I was recently stopped for speeding, but only received a warning. However, I did get cited for no front plate, which set me back to the tune of 91.00.

Good luck with your petition guys. I really think the time has come for the retirement of all front plates. Most new car designs really don't incorporate it, plus with the electronic files and records now available to LEOs, they don't seem as necessary as they did years ago.
I used to live in the Chicago area and we had the front plate, window tint was illegal and I had to have 3 different stickers on my windows which basically served no purpose except to impose another tax.
I moved to Florida less than one year after I purchased my first 2004 Corvette and I never installed the front plate and I never purchased a village sticker as I knew I was moving and I was already in the process of the transfer splitting time between the two states.
About one month before my move, I received a letter from the county and my local village demanding that I purchase my two stickers (taxes) now that my new car registration was filed. Guess who never replied...
I enjoy living in a state that doesn't require a front plate, window tint is allowed to a certain limit, and I don't have any special window sticker requirements.

Currently, nineteen states do not require the use of front plates without any issues. Four of the these states: North Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky border Virginia and have motorists who use Virginia roadways on a daily basis. The absence of a front plate does not reduce vehicle safety or inhibit police enforcement. Beyond ugly, car companies spend millions making our automobiles aerodynamic and fuel efficient. Then we are forced to slap a big fat windbreak right on the front.
Sign the petition and send Governor McAuliffe a clear message. End this eyesore and waste of citizens money once and for all.
Cheers,
JB

Signed. Can't stand front plates...I've paid my dues to run my cars without them numerous times. Thanks Fairfax and Prince William county! Sadly tho, I must agree with dosoctaves...it's a huge money maker for VA and they wont give it up anytime soon.

Great suggestion!
I've sent the link to all the clubs I know. More than Corvettes, please forward the link to ALL your Virginia car enthusiast friends and any Virginia car clubs.
End the front license plate in Virginia! Spread the word!

- The front plate is an airbrake, it reduces MPG economy in millions of carefully engineered modern cars on the road today.
- The front plate disrupts cooling in performance cars.
- Many cars weren't designed have a front plate. You must alter the car to even attach one.
- No car enthusiast wants to spoil the good looks of their car with that ugly freaking plate.
- Many neighboring states don't use a front plate, and life goes on fine without it. We are no safer in Virginia because of the front plate.
- Taken in total, requiring front plates on all Virginia cars becomes a sizable waste of money with little or no value.
End the front license plate in Virginia! Spread the word!
Cheers,
JB

We live in North Carolina, but just bought a car in VA. It was delivered with paper temp plates both front and rear. Plus the Va inspection sticker in the center of the windshield. Can wait to receive the Nc tile and rear plate, and get rid of all that stupid VA. garbage.

Virginia is the worst police state in the country. Good luck getting it changed. When I lived in MD I just drove over my front plate a couple of times then stuck it under the drivers seat. Planned on telling the cops it just fell off and I was on my way home to remount it but never got stopped for not having one.
I'm surprised by that graphic that shows the majority of states require front plates. What ever happened to NH Live Free or Die? Texas puts up with that BS? Time for another revolution!
