Default FL Vehicle Registration questions

Florida people,
How tough is it to register a modified vehicle? I'm looking at moving to Melbourne and have a modified 02Z (H/C/I/no cats). Here in STL, I get a safety and emissions check and the car is ready to register. The emissions check is basically a code check to ensure there are no DTC's.

Hopefully, it's not as stringent as California.

Thanks all!
Mike

Hey Mike, there is no annual or any type of auto inspections in FL. Actually all you need is working lights and ins and your good to go. If you want to run open headers have at it.

There is a one time impact fee of about $500.00 for each car. Nice to not have to run a front plate. I did have a Sheriff at my house once before registering and he gave me an inspection paper after he checked my vin, that paper was needed when I registered.

As a retired deputy sheriff from FL I remember this statute well. It's still in effect so make sure your car complies. I wrote many non-moving violations in my day. https://www.lawserver.com/law/state/...atutes_316-272
