Default williamsburg? -newtown? any thoughts?

My wife may end up with a position at Williamsburg. We're currently living in a more rural part of the state with more land and storage/garage space. The idea of living next to everything may be appealing for a change, but looking for suggestions for 'garage space' for truck/car/etc.

Any other thoughts on the area? [open to ideas of living further out, open to ideas of living in town but having storage space further out.... open to a new adventure]

You're going to have to help me out here, please.

Basically what are all the options, or at least a set.
As in, pick one set of options, and expand on it please, and it will help me to be able to identify how much/how far/and what we're willing to do.

We're going in blind to the area.

--for example.
You can get x-y-z and pay ABC per month in area Q which is 'this far' away
you can get x and y but pay DEF for the house in area T which is 'that far' away

We're in the middle of trying to figure out what we're willing to do. Please help

The Toano / Lightfoot area you will find lots of opportunity for purchasing a few acres or more to build. The VA Route 5 area North of the Chickahominy River also provides for an area that land is available. In the City of Williamsburg... bring your checkbook... lol..

Good tips from Hitch. As mentioned...if you get out of Williamsburg a little ways....you can find more affordable land and homes....all within easy driving distance for work.

Looks like we'll be renting a house in toano so we can get our bearings in the area, and we'll both start our new jobs shortly. Just couldn't handle living in 'new town', need some space.

sheesh, really don't want to 'build again'. Last time, we knew someone who was on the build crew, so that saved us a lot of problems. We don't know anyone in this area. Also don't know builders, and having the darnest time figuring out which Realtors are useful (and which are slag).

Really depressed after leaving our dreamhome to follow my wife's dream job.

I'm missing scenery, missing land, missing houses on acrage that aren't all bunched together with build envelops that you'd expect intown subdivisions.
