SUNSET CADILLAC.

On US 41 just south of Cortez

Stay away from the chevy dealers..

I got amazing service, loaners and a washed car

They also do GM warranty work and third party warranty.

We're currently living 50 miles NW of Chicago and hoping to relocate to Lakewood Ranch, FL. Our local Chevy dealers here have Vette Specialist and was hoping to find the same in Florida. We don't have a problem driving 50/60 miles for the right situation.

Thanks!

If you don't mind driving then try Stingray Chevy in Plant City, they are the largest Corvette dealer in the area, and have Vette techs

I had the exact opposite experience. *** messed up a recall service on my C5 and Sunset fixed it. Sunset is also the sponsor of the Skyway Corvette Club. Ask for Nizar who is their Corvette service writer.

I also moved from the Chicago area in 2005 and live in Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch. There are multiple dealerships in the area including Sunset (Sarasota), *** (Bradenton), Stingray (Plant City), Dimmitt (Clearwater), and Bill Buck (Venice). It really comes down to whom you feel comfortable with as I only use dealerships when my Corvettes are in warranty and then use performance shops when out of warranty.

Another trick is some guys use Sunset Cadillac for service of their Corvettes. They tell me they get a little better TLC under the Cadillac brand, however I haven't tried it. I'm sure the coffee is better.

Thanks for the info. What performance shop do you recommend? How do you like the Lakewood Ranch area?

From a performance perspective, i.e. tunes, go fast mods, etc., I suggest Powertech Performance in St. Pete/Clearwater. From a general mods, non-tuning perspective, mostly exhaust, cosmetic, interior, etc. I suggest Auto XTC in St. Pete. If you're looking for parts for restoration, you can try C&S Corvettes in Sarasota.

We have a few guys in our club who have off-site shops with 4-posts lifts so we often have Oil Change Barbecues with BYOB. Fun times. As mentioned, I try to stay away from dealerships post warranty, especially on the older models that were built when the average dealership tech was still in diapers.

I like living in the Lakewood Ranch area, however the area has really boomed since we moved here in 2005. It's always a battle with local politicians and developers over controlled growth vs. rapid, unchecked growth. You really need to know what the zoning and planning of nearby areas are before you invest. Some people build a beautiful, new Florida home overlooking lush landscapes, only to have a shopping center built next door in 3 years. When we first moved here, I was surprised more people didn't know about the area. Now they do.

Plus we have the first Diverging Diamond Interchange in Florida. I was skeptical at first, but it really does work and has helped with traffic flow. Now they're working on my exit SR64, and next year they begin working on the SR70 interchange. Within the next 5-6 years, all the major interchanges off I75 through Sarasota and Bradenton will have been re-engineered and then the plan is to add additional lanes to I75 up through I275. Growth...

I tried going the Cadillac route for an MRC upgrade and oil change, and the MIC of service had no idea what I was talking about. "We're a Cadillac dealer", he said. Go figure.

I live in Lakewood Ranch (Country Club East) and I use *** Chevy for all my service needs on all my cars. I have never had a problem with them and they have a dedicated service tech just for Corvettes. Erik is the service writer that I go to for all my problems and he makes sure it is done right the first time.

I was very disappointed with the service I received at *** Chevrolet. I now go to Sunset Chevrolet for all my Corvette needs. Very pleased with the service.

C&S Corvettes in Sarasota.
They're the only ones I allow near my car.
