I'm in if there is enough interest from the group and the Talladega event is a no go. I'd also be interested in doing both if Talladega gets moved to later in the year.

I might be able to move my work schedule around depending on what my assistant has going on the week before. It would be only a 6 hr. drive for me and I could head home after the track day on Sunday.

UPDATE.... 2/22/19...I messaged Gary at V4V this morning just to see if any new developments....

Jeff: Good morning Gary...so has Talladega V4V officially been called off this year?

Gary: Good morning Jeff. They will not return our calls, so all we can assume is yes it is not going to happen. We will be posting something official in the next few days. Even if they said yes today, we’re not sure we could pull it off by May. Because of all of the behind the scenes of work that has to be done.

Jeff: Yep I fully understand. I just got a an email blast from Talladega this morning about "start a new tradition with them this April 26th-28th". Found that odd but who knows maybe after the spring race they have more plans to work on stuff.

Gary: They are telling us that the track will be ready for the spring race and as soon as it is over they will start construction in the garage area and that is why we can’t have the track. They are doing some mods to the garage to help enhance the fan experience!!

Jeff: Yeah just what I figured was happening. Well please be sure to provide any updates should the date get postponed to later in the year. A lot of guys have voiced their opinions on "to have it later in the year is better then to not have it all all".

Gary: We are looking at all of the options. I will be in touch.

Thanks Jeff. I have written the event off myself for this year. I find it odd that Talladega wrote me to say that they were not having the event this year, but they won't answer Gary at vettes4vets.

I agree Mike! Seems very unprofessional to say the least. Iam trying to stay neutral on it as iam sure there is a lot of information as to why there is rhr communication gap. I hope things do get back on track and fast, as this would be a huge loss if for one reason or the other things went astray between the partnership among V4V/Hendrick Chevrolet and Talladega Superspeedway.

If we have to sit out this year due to renovations and construction, so be it. We'll look forward to 2020. Hendrick deserves a ton of credit for paying the track rental and insurance cost, not to mention the behind the scenes legwork it takes to pull this off. That is a 5 figure check they have been writing every year which goes to a great charity. Tell Gary and Hendrick Chevrolet thanks a bunch for their efforts and support.

As always Jeff I appreciate all you do to try and stay ahead of what's going on with the event. I'm sure they'll have to tell you something very soon..

We survived one cancellation a few years ago and I'm sure we will survive this one. I'm sure the place will look totally different when we do get to go back and if the event will not be held this year then next year will be killer . After the last cancellation the next event held there was a sell out! I'm still holding onto my room till it's confirmed cancelled..

Kind of figured this was going to happen. Not going to cancel room just yet. I am going to start checking on blocking off rooms for texas, let me know if interested in that event, thanks jeff for all the time and effort put in keeping us informed. Barry

I just pulled this off of Facebook so It looks like it's confirmed the event will be cancelled for this year...

"It is unfortunate that we must release the following information: The 2019 Vettes4Vets Talladega Speedway track day has been cancelled. The Talladega Speedway is currently undergoing some major changes. At the present time a new tunnel is being constructed at the end of the back straightaway prior to entering turn three. This project will be completed in time to hold the spring race at the end of April. Immediately following the race, phase two will begin with major updates taking place in the garage area. As you all know that have participated in the past, that we use the garage for our staging area. We asked to have another area, but the officials are not going to allow that, so we must cancel this years event. Plans are already underway for a 2020 event at the Speedway. We have looked at other options at other tracks, the Barber's Museum and Speedway, but other venues are booked and logistically would be very difficult at best. We thank everyone that has participated in the past and we look forward to your continuing support for America's Veterans.--
