North Georgia -Spring '19 Mountain Cruise?
I've started a few of these over the years. Always had a blast.
There's a pretty good BBQ joint we stop at along the way
The general route is to start in the Buford/Oakwood/Gainesville area... make it to Wolf Pen Gap, run the gap and nearby curves… then roll south on the way home we branch off as we go our separate ways.
I'm thinking Sunday (the only day I could make it) a few weeks from now.
Wolf Pen Gap is Hwy 180 in this pic.
Couple pics from some previous ones I've set up.

Sorry for the big pics.
I've got two people not on this forum that are going.
Not grandpa slow, some areas are moving along pretty damn quick.
Not reckless, always safe

I'll be up there, (Hiawassee), Friday, May 3rd, and Saturday, May 4th. I plan on running all or most of 6 Gaps while I'm up there. If anyone wants to get together, let me know.

Although I personally voted the 5th, the 12th is by far more popular. Also a buddy needs the extra time to make his car ready. He’s made the unfortunate decision to move to a Yankee blue state so having one last mountain run will make for a good memory.
Another thought is that in past mountain runs not set up by me, they always wanted to meet early. 8am in Gainesville means when the alarm goes off around 6:30 on a Sunday I’m turning that bitch off and going back to sleep.
So with that in mind I’m thinking we meet 9:30 in Oakwood/Gainesville (at a gas station to be determined) so we can talk about the route, exchange phone numbers (if desired) if anyone gets separated and also get a few snacks. Leave around 10 and that puts us in line for a BBQ lunch sometime between 12-1.
So plan on the 12th, if weather is looking bad we’ll make it the week after.
Stay tuned for future details on where to meet up.

Hey Josh,
Thank you for setting up this thread. I couldn't make it for your Sunday rides, but I was in Hiawassee today. Through this thread PJAZZ contacted me and we were able to meet up. Met for bfast in Blairsville, shoutout to 'Hole in the Wall'.
We drove 6 gaps and had a blast. The pace was somewhat 'spirited', but Larry was nice enough to not embarrass me. BTW Larry, gorgeous car.
Was particularly fun, and fast, on Blood mountain and Neels Gap. Ran into a Ga State Trooper, figuratively, and he said they pull bodies off that mountain several times a year because people get over their heads.
Thanks Josh for planting the seed and thanks Larry for meeting up.
Be safe when you guys do your drive.

You’re welcome. Glad you both had a time to remember.
It’s easy to get into trouble on those roads both with the law and with life. Exciting when it all works out balanced.
The 10 day forecast for next weekend (the 12th) isn’t the best, hope we catch a nice Sunday soon enough.

Thanks Tim It was definitely a fun time. You've got a sweet ride as well. Rain didn't come till I was on the way home. Had to take a pic of the shoe tree.

We’re still a week out but if the weather looks like this closer to the the 12th then it’s best to go one week past to the 19th.
Forecast for the 12th as of Monday 6th
