Florence is a nice small town next door to Darlington if you are into NASCAR and about a hour from Myrtle Beach.

I don't know enough about the area to be helpful but when I lived in another part of SC years ago I'd frequently attend company training classes with guys from all across the state.

One thing we noticed about everybody from Florence was their very unique dialect. And they all pronounced the name the same, as a one-syllable "Flownce"...... "Flown" pronounced as in "I have flown" or "the plane was flown", etc.

That's not a knock, it's just the way it was and was very noticeable if you were from some other place.

Hmmm...maybe I better buy a house in "Dahlington" and just commute to "Flowence".

There is a great NCCC low speed event there every year during Memorial Day weekend at the old fairgrounds right next to Francis Marion College. 21 events and 3 days of racing to be exact.

I do know there is a few places you stay away from. But it many towns, there are the good sections and the bad sections.
