Default Has anyone had service done at Corvette Mikes in Anaheim?

Has anyone had service done at Corvette Mikes in Anaheim? I am interested in the results. Judging by the quality of the cars in their show room I assumed that their service quality would be high. I was a little surprised when they changed my transmission fluid (at a reasonable cost) that the mechanic used an adjustable wrench on several occasions, and he never used a torque wrench. I know that tools don’t necessarily make the mechanic…and that some master mechanics can do incredible things….but, I would have felt better if I had seen them using proper tools.

That really strange, I never hear anything about them as far as service.

I have had them do three sets of tires and several oil changes for me. Never a problem. They may or may not do everything by the book (I do not know), but they have always have taken very good care of me and I would put myself in the happy returning customer category.

When I have walked around the shop, I have looked over the shoulders of several of the mechanics; they do not look rushed and do look conscientious.

Good to know you have had good experience with them. Some of the other people I have talked to have never said a single bad thing. More often they are praising about how they went above and beyond. If I ever have anything big I will have the Vette taken there. If I were closer I would have all my work done there.

yes & i've been very satisfied. go early in the a.m. (first appointment). more attention, less, rushed, they'll take their time.
price is reasonable too. i've had a couple of things done there. brakes, rotors, fluids, tune up.

plus the best part is i got to stand and watch the entire thing and talk shop with the mechanic for over an hour or so, where he'd stop and point little things out to me that i'd have never known about. those guys live & breathe vettes.

helluva showroom to wander around in too...

www.corvettemike.com

i've seen some crazy cars there, so i'd imagine they do everything. the mechanic that worked on my car had been there for like 15 or 20 years, so he knew his stuff and was a really good guy.

their classic car showroom (it's a gigantic garage, basically) is like a candy store.

IMO I'd take my car to West Coast before I'd take it to Mike. I'm not into snooty arrogance that I get every time I'm in there. I live exactly 5 min from both places and visit both frequently and Mike's is not user friendly.. as a matter of fact they arent friendly at all.

I don't know about their mechanical ability, but I'll wholeheartedly second the point about them being unfriendly. I live even closer than Kris072, maybe 2.5 miles from them. When I still had the 02 Z06, I dropped by a few times to look around, and some guy barged out and asked me very coldly, " You need something?". Another time I was walking by, and stopped to peek into their front waiting area through the glass window (during business hours), but the door was locked. A guy came out through the garage door, and asked in a raised voice "Hey, what are you doing?". Snotty and rude I guess. Regarding West Coast, I've only spoken to them on the phone, and 2 different guys answered me, both polite to a fault. That's my unbiased input.

I went down to Corvette Mike's about 2 weeks ago on a Monday (which is my day off), to see about new rims. I to felt as if I was being talked down to as I questioned the sales rep about different items in their show room and parts department. I guess if the attitudes are not working on your car it might be safe. A general feeling of comfort when talking to salespeople and or repair specialist is my general rule of thumb. If a guy is using non specific tools after 15 or 20 years of employment in a "Speciality Repair Center" I would start looking elsewhere. But the flip side is "HE HAS BEEN THERE 15 OR 20 YEARS". Just my thoughts. Good Luck

it's unfortunate you guys had a bad experience. i wish i remember the guy who worked on my car, and you could've asked for him specifically. the guy who worked on my car had been there for a long time, and was excellent. he took the extra time to show things to me, explain what was so-and-so (and i'm talking every little detail), etc., all while i was standing there...for almost 2 hours! then above & beyond he went and did a thorough check/walkaround of my car which took about 30-40 min, showing me all kinds of things. didn't try to sell me on anything or talk down in any way. he was a real corvette nut (and had a couple himself). like i said, i got there about 7 a.m. and it was really early, so maybe he/they had the time to take with customers at that hour and i lucked out...

best of all, they were about half the price of what dealership wanted for the same repair job (new pads, rotors, fluid flush). i'm a happy customer, and would go back there again without hesitation (if i can't make it all the way up to a&a, that is!).

you shouldn't go back if you had a bad experience. i wouldn't, that's for sure. you go where you're comfortable, and it sounds like some people at c.m. left you with a bad taste. no harm in that.

for example, a bad service experience is why i positively refuse to take my car into a certain local chevy dealer in IRVINE, who wanted to charge me over $500 for an entire new headlight assembly when the good parts man bob at fichtner chevy (supporting forum dealer) pointed out that that dealer was comitting highway robbery and all i really needed was a $45 set of headlight lenses...

Default over priced, poor customer service

There parts department is over priced. Same for the labor charges.
Your right, they talk down to you. I'll forget more about LS1, LS2 motors than some of there techs know. So I went into to talk to one of them about some engine mods to my then C5. Playing dumb they filled the place with BS about what I needed to have done. So be careful!!!

Default Mike's

put 2005 Vette wheels on my car. Service was good, insides sales and the tech who put on the wheels were friendly and accommodating. Their price was reasonable. I'll give them a plus on all counts.
