I'm glad to see you are now a real track rat

Your car may be too loud for LS. Some of us stock C6Z06 cars were black flagged there. You can get around this by letting off the gas where the sound shack is or maybe you have a stock cat back .. don't really remember what you got or how loud you car is. If I had don't a drive along with you I could be more helpful. Some of the LS regulars like Sidney and Dan will chime in.

Put me in modified(I still can't figure out how an 18 year old car that weighs 3600# with 292 RWHP ends up in this class.)

Here is a refresher on the course:

if jerry's car is too loud, then that is BS in my opinion, because his car is marginally louder then stock

Rookie question here: What's the deal with insurance at these type of events? Do you need something special? Does your regular car insurance cover you?

As I said, not sure as I didn't drive with him but thought I heard his car some what more than stock. I just want him to check and be aware that this is the only track the Corvette Challenge attends that has sound limits. My stock C6Z06 got back flagged twice in one day up there. That is not fun to pay a lot of dough only to get yanked off the track.

I'm sure your car won't pass

No regular insurance does not cover your car on track. There is track insurance. Search over on the road racing section and you will get some leads. I and nobody else I know has it. We just don't crash our cars

Actually DH, you're incorrect in your statement... I have it, and so does another guy you know :-)

go here for HPDE insurance....

www.HPDEInsuranceProgram.com

I don't intend on crashing either... but... I feel a whole lot better now if something does go wrong... and it can....fast....

Be careful with Lockton. If I remember correctly they don't cover you if you're being timed. Aaron of Speed Ventures referred me to Seibert Keck for insurance.

Hello,

I understand that you are looking to cover a Corvette while doing timed events.

I see you have contacted Lockton and Jacob Katz. I know both their programs, and you are correct that they exclude timed / competition events.

The program I have does insure HPDE and race cars competing in timed events and wheel to wheel.

I have attached our simple application. It consists of two pages. One page asks for information about you and the car. The second page requests a schedule of events you plan on attending. Don’t worry if you don’t know your entire schedule for the season. What we really want to know is roughly how many days you plan to be on the track for next season until December 31st, 2012.

When you send the information back to me, please include three pictures of your car. Two pictures of the outside and one of the inside works best. If the email file is larger than 5MB, you will have to break the email up in to separate emails. My server rejects files larger than 5MB for security reasons.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the referral Aaron.

Sincerely,

Parker Berry, II, CIC

Hmm, I don't see anything about that in their on line info, or anywhere in my policy... I am inquiring directly with Lockton about it.

I can't either... what mods are you running? I assume you're on full racing slicks?

Neither will mine. The sound rules at LS are ridiculous; we're talking about a racetrack with a dB limit lower than the CA legal limit for use on public roads!

I think it is ABSURD that the Corvette Challenge even schedules one event at a track that so many of our members car's don't meet their noise limitations. I try to make all the events but am unwilling to go through the expense/hassle to change my exhaust system back to stock for one event. Maybe its all for the better as it saves me the expensive 800+ mile road trip and exceptionally high $ track fees. It's expensive enough for us with limited $ to run a full season of Challenge track days so I want to thank Howie for arranging some discounted $ local track days between Challange events for the limited budget drivers that pass on LS.
