Maybe you've seen bootlegged ones. I just found this in the FAQ:

Q2: When should I expect to receive the 1960’s plates I have pre-ordered?
A: Expect issuance in the late spring through summer 2015. Allow additional time for personalized plates.

Meanwhile, my check was cashed back in October [cue government rant].

Strange.. They sent me back the fee about a month ago and said the program wasn't going through.

Only the yellow on black plate made the cut. If you ordered yellow on blue, or black on yellow, then that makes sense.

As a data point, the last set of personalized plates I ordered took about 16 weeks. These were ordered 11-2014.

I finally received confirmation that my personalized legacy plate has been reserved for me. It will be ready for pickup at the local DMV... in 8-12 weeks.

I received a receipt from the DMV on registration looking paper that has my new plate number on it, but says nothing about when to pick it up or if its there yet/

Ordered 2 pairs of personalized plates last week from the Dmv website. They said they are going to made on the original presses from the 1960's in the Folsom prison. They should look legit with the embossed "California", with the exception of a special clear coat so they reflect at night. I'll repaint them if they look weird. I was told 8-12 weeks to pick them up at the DMV because they are personalized.

Got mine today/...They actually came in the mail, nice surprise after about 4 months!

They are super nice, deep black with nice rich yellow. Look way nicer than original black plates. They came with new registration and new stickers...Gonna look sweet on my '70 Chevy shortbed/
